School Profile

Sacred Heart High School is a comprehensive four-year Catholic High School that was established in 1908 by the Sisters of St. Joseph.  The school, with an enrollment of 200 students, is fully accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education and Advanced Ed.

The academic program is organized on a traditional eight class period day.  Our instructional staff consists of 23 faculty members, one principal, one assistant principal/athletic director and one guidance counselor.  Special education services are provided by the Central Kansas Cooperative and include a resource teacher, three para-professionals, a speech and language service provider, occupational and physical therapist, a school psychologist and a gifted coordinator.

Support personnel include an office manager, a technology/testing coordinator, prayer and liturgical coordinator and a technology director.  In addition, we have a director of building and grounds, a business manager, a development director and a development coordinator.

Sacred Heart students participate in weekly Liturgical celebrations, weekly all school Masses, daily student and faculty led prayer services, Confirmation preparation, Reconciliation, Student Liturgical Commission Program, ACRE Assessment and daily Religion classes.


SHHS Senior High students perform 25 hours of community service each year.  Students completing 60 or more hours of service earn a Letter of Service.

The Sacred Heart High School Music department has been successful with their KMEA District and State qualifiers.

In the past decade both the bands and choirs have recorded numerous Superior ratings continuously at the KSHSAA Solo and Small Ensemble and Large Ensemble Festivals.

Every fall the Sacred Heart High School performs a large musical using the Salina Community Theatre as the venue.  The musical is adjudicated by the Music Theatre of Wichita Jesters Program.  There have been many nominations for best supporting actors/actresses, ensembles, stage and lighting crews, as well as musical direction.  The musicals performed have been State Fair, Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, All Shook Up, The Music Man, Damn Yankees and Grease to name a few.
