Airforce ROTC at K-State has a path to earning a commission as an Air Force Officer.  Complete Military Training and Bachelor’s Degree simultaneously.  They offer leadership, friendships, guaranteed job after graduation, scholarship opportunities, adventure/travel and physical fitness.  Host school is K-State Manhattan, and K-State Polytechnic.  High School Scholarship programs or HSSP; High School seniors may apply on-line at www.afrotc.com.  26 ACT 3.0 HS GPA. Catholic Daughters of the Americas scholarship, #1972 has a $500 scholarship and the female student must be a member of one of the three Catholic parishes in Salina. Please come to the counseling office to get an application. If not a CYO member you can get your school counselor to write you a letter of recommendation. Even though this scholarship is applicable to any school. Easy 500 word essay on "How has my Catholic Faith strengthened my life and how will it enhance my decisions as a college student?" Applications should be post marked no later than April 19, 2021.

Carrico Implement – full ride scholarship.  Carrico a John Deer Dealership in Beloit, Ellsworth and Hays is now offering a full ride scholarship opportunity for individuals interested in a career as a John Deer Service Technician.  Carrico partners with Southeast Community College in Milford, NE and Garden City Community College in Garden City, KS.  This includes tuition, fees, books, basic housing and a meal plan.  Contact bgoddard@carricoimplement.com or call 785-831-4537. 

Ft. Hays State University is offering a scholarship through April 1 which is the deadline for high school seniors to apply for the Schmidt Foundation Scholars scholarship. If you are a student who would be eligible, please use this link for additional information on how to apply: https://fhsu.edu/schmidtfoundation .  Bob and Pat Schmidt were dedicated to making a lasting difference at Fort Hays State University. The Schmidt Foundation is continuing the couple’s legacy by creating five new full-ride scholarships for the 2021-2022 FHSU academic year. Five hardworking high school seniors who enroll at FHSU for the fall semester will have their lives changed by these scholarships, which will cover the cost of tuition, fees, room and board, and books.  

NAIFA of the Heartland Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a student in any Kansas County in which National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors of the Heartland exists (State Farm Insurance and several others exist in Saline County).  This scholarship is one-time $1,000 awarded for a high school senior pursuing a 2-4 year college degree including but not limited to Kansas Technical Schools.  GPA of 2.5 – 3.75.   April 15th deadline, stop by the Counselor’s office for more details. 

Opportunities at Hesston College that are available to seniors as they look forward to their next steps. Hesston College can provide in-person or virtual visit experience depending on the preference of your student. Students can schedule campus visits.

Virtual Engineering Day, April 3, will feature student showcases and every student who attends will automatically receive a scholarship. Get more information and sign up - Virtual Engineering Day.

Performing Arts Scholarship Auditions are available for any student interested in auditioning for a Performing Arts Scholarship (music and/or theatre) for the fall 2021 semester. In addition to potential scholarship packages of $21,500 or more, extra scholarships are available for keyboard players and students with exceptional auditions.

Free Financial Aid Counseling is available in person or online with our financial aid director. We’re always happy to talk to you and help you with your questions regarding financial aid including how to fill out the FAFSA. The Kansas Comprehensive Grant deadline is April 1, so if you have any students who would qualify, please make sure they have submitted their FAFSA by the deadline. K-State University Scholar Award

Total Value: $20,000 Eligibility - Incoming freshmen are eligible with a minimum 31 ACT OR 1390 SAT AND 3.90 high school GPA.

Annual Value $5,000 renewable award 3.0 K-State GPA required for renewal See general renewal requirements and renewal lengths

Wildcat awards - Total Value: $10,000 Eligibility - Incoming freshmen are eligible with a minimum 25 ACT OR 1200 SAT AND 3.50 high school GPA.  Annual Value $2,500 renewable award 3.0 K-State GPA required for renewal See general renewal requirements and renewal lengths

Kansas Board of Regents – Kansas Financial aid is administered by KS Board of Regents.  Applications for Student Aid for 2020-2021 Scholarship and Grants www.kansasregents.org to complete an application.  I also have a limited number of paper copies.

The Norman F. Steiner Aviation Scholarship has been established by Keith and Britt Steiner, Erie, Colorado, through the Kansas State University Foundation. The annual award is available to undergraduate students enrolled in the professional pilot program at Kansas State Polytechnic who demonstrate financial need and meet minimum academic qualifications. The scholarship is renewable to each recipient for up to four years.

KS Ethnic Minority Scholarship, KS Nursing Service Scholarship, KS Teacher Service Scholarship, KS Career Technical Workforce Grant, KS Military service Scholarship, KS National Guard Education Assistance. 

K.U is offering a Hispanic Scholarship fund.  Eligibility is 3.0 GPA U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident apply www.hsf.net .

Knights of Columbus $1,000 for any young Catholic male who is a registered member of one of the Salina Catholic churches.  Come by for an application. 

 

McPherson College:  admissions@mcpherson.edu.  Schedule a campus visit by calling 800-365-7402.  They over a Presidential Scholarship which is available, they offer up to $23,000 per year for four years ($92,000). The College Board partners with scholarship providers connected to the SAT®, PSAT/NMSQT®, and PSAT™ 10. Through these partners, students can access over $300 million in scholarship awards. Learn more at psat.org/scholarships.

Prairie Land Partners – Technician in Ag/Diesel.  Are you interested in a career in Agriculture?  They are offering an opportunity to help students attend a technical college that teaches diesel technology with John Deer at several community colleges in the area.  Watch the video to learn more.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oujcXDTRdEk  100% of tuition is reimbursed.  After a 2-year associate you will work for Prairie Land Partners for 3-years.  Go to Prairie Land Partners web site and fill out a careers interest program and they will contact you.  They partner with John Deer Implement. 

PB&J Scholarship, #163, 1110 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu, HI 96817.  This scholarship is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically but want to succeed.

Examples of personal challenges include, but are not limited to:

  • medical issues
  • peer issues: bullying, change of school, minority status, etc.
  • family issues: divorce, death, lack of income, homelessness, foster care, abuse, etc.

When in doubt, students are encouraged to apply; this scholarship is meant to be inclusive.

Evaluation & Process

Applicants will be evaluated based on their essay and letters of recommendation; there is no GPA requirement. Please note: letters of recommendation must directly reference the student’s challenges. If the applicant does not wish to share their challenges with their recommender, then the recommendation must reference the student’s personal character. More than 10 scholarships will be awarded in 2020, based on financing. Student Scholarships have 15 scholarship programs available to Kansas students. More than 658 individual scholarships will be distributed through these 15 programs. At the top of the website is the tab to begin applying for scholarships. These are national scholarships that are for any state accredited schools, not just Kansas Schools.

 

Salina, KS – OCCK, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of its More Than You Think Scholarship for 2021. The new scholarship was established as part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of OCCK in 2020, as a long term reminder of the good work that past generations have done, and that future generations will do, in working with people with disabilities in north central Kansas. The More Than You Think Scholarship recognizes and honors students in north central Kansas from Saline, Ottawa, Cloud, Republic, Jewell, Mitchell, Lincoln, Ellsworth or Dickinson Counties, who have a disability and are looking to further their education by enrolling in some type of post-secondary learning opportunity (college, university, community college, vocational school, cosmetology school, etc.) Any type of credentialed program will be considered.

Washburn University is still awarding Freshman Academic Scholarships.  Washburn will also be super-scoring and allowing for scholarship adjustments to be made until May 1st.  This will ensure that your students can qualify for potentially higher scholarship amounts.  admission@washburn.edu.


Wichita State:
has a large number of scholarships www.Wichita.edu/scholarships listed on their website for students interested in attending Wichita State.  They have many competitive scholarships for Engineering, Business, Teaching, and Fine Arts.  Seniors interested in going to Wichita State come see the school counselor for scholarship opportunities. 

HSF Wichita State scholarship is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a university degree.  Scholarships are available on a competitive basis.  Awards are based on merit.  Minimum 3.0 GPA.  US Citizen or Permanent legal resident, DACA or eligible non-citizen as defined by FAFSA.
