At the heart of Catholic Education is the community: not just to be learned, but to be lived.
Standard House Time Schedule*
Monday = MASS (10 minutes)
Tuesday = GOLD (40 minutes)
Wednesday = GOLD (Seminar/Leadership Meetings, 40minutes)
Thursday = GOLD (40 minutes)
Friday = BLUE (10 minutes)
Structure of Community-House System
- There are 3 communities at Sacred Heart;St. John Paul II,St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, and St. Teresa of Calcutta.
- Each student is assigned to the same community for grades 7-12. There are approximately 65 students in each community.
- Each community will be assigned a Dean, a faculty member chosen by Special Committee.
- Each community is divided into 3 Houses. Houses will be approximately 20-25 students from all grades (7-12).
- Each House will be assigned and supervised by a Mentor Teacher.
- Each House will be assigned the following leadership;
- 1 Senior Leader,
- 1 Junior Leader,
- 1 Sophomore Leader,
- 1 Freshman Leader, and
- 1 8th Grade Leader.
- There will be 3 Community Captains who will be responsible for the care and concern of students in their Community, and representing Sacred Heart at Public events.
Goals of Community-House System
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received,to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms1 Peter 4:10
- To ensure individual care of each student.
- To strengthen the bonds of our Sacred Heart Family;Students (grades 7-12), Parents, Staff, Teachers,and Administration. Pray. Play. Serve!
- To create opportunities for all students to become leaders, and advance their interpersonal, conflict-resolution,and team-building skills, through;
- The planning, organization, coordination and support of Community-House activities including dances, fundraisers, and committees.
